Welcome to The Wright Stuff Chics

Hello and WELCOME to The Wright Stuff Chics Blog!! We are excited to provide a space where teachers (and those who care about teachers!) can come together to help support each other through the ups and downs of our chosen profession. Teaching is a calling and a means to awaken young minds so that they can not only learn the basics that are required of them to function in a modern world, but to awaken their minds to the possibilities that await our students beyond the classroom. This great endeavor unites all teachers around the world. We have a strong voice collectively and together we can make a difference.  While our goal as teachers is to inform, awaken and lead young minds to their fullest potential, we must not neglect our own full potential, and for women, a big part of that means being proactive with our health.

Our organization came into being in 2015 when Elise Dunnigan Bethel, our beloved sister and daughter of one of the founders of our organization, was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer. We began an initiative to raise awareness of this disease and after Elise’s death in 2018, this cause became even more important to us. The Wright Stuff Chics began The Pink Santa Hat Movement to not only celebrate Elise’s life but to support other phenomenal women in education who are themselves fighting breast cancer.

What is the Pink Santa Hat Movement? The pink comes from the universal color for breast cancer awareness and the Santa comes into play because every December, we invite five-eight women who are battling breast cancer to come to Atlanta for an all expense paid spa weekend! Fighting cancer is a full time (24/7) job that can be debilitating. It is a fight for life!! The Pink Santa Hat Movement provides one weekend in December when fellow teachers can come together and share their stories while being catered to in every way.  These pampered weekends are paid for with the funds we raise through our Wright Stuff Chics on-line retail store which is stocked with graphic tee-shirts with positive messages for educators and those who support them. We also offer other clothing as well as gift items and all purchases from our store go directly to The Pink Santa Hat Movement weekend getaway. Teachers are many in number and it is our hope that with your help, together, we can not only continue to provide this amazing and supportive gift to those who so deserve it, but also, to help us continue to bring awareness to the importance of regular breast health screenings for teachers. We want women educators to know that they are not alone in their breast cancer battle!

We have a lot of exciting news to share with our fellow educators and it is our hope that you will join our movement to support teachers. We’re all in this together and we hope that you will partner with us in this important work.

Thank you for all you do, every day, as teachers who are making a difference in the world!!

“The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.” Khalil Gibran
